Shyamala(Shy) Gopalan MS, OTR/L, CHT works as a clinician at the Centers for Advanced Orthopedics in Washington DC. She has over 15 years of experience in the field of hand therapy. After graduating with a Master’s degree from Tufts University in 2003, she started her career as a pediatric occupational therapist working with children with autism and other learning disabilities. She subsequently moved to acute care and it is while working there that she became passionate about hand therapy. She went on to obtain her certification in hand therapy(CHT) in 2009. Shy has experience working with a variety of upper extremity conditions, including lateral and medial epicondylitis. She is currently on the board of Capital Hand therapy Association and serves as the continuing education coordinator.
